1754-02-19, Proclamation & Memorial encouraging enlistment (reprint)
February 19, 1754 reprinted Proclamation and Memorial issued by Governor Robert Dinwiddie to encourage Virginian to enlist into military service. As
a reward for so defending the colony against the French and hostile Indians and for good behavior and proper service, the governor promised a land
and had no payment of quit-tents for the first fifteen years. A memorial of George Mercer, colonel in the Virginia regiment, was also attached which
