1823 Governor James Pleasants, Jr. letter of transmittal to the General Assembly of the preamble and resolutions from the Tennessee General Assembly.
The assembly objected to the United States Congress meeting in caucus to nominate presidential and vice-presidential candidates; resolutions
included instructing senators from the recipient states not to do so, and representatives be requested to assist in this fulfilling this resolution. See
