By His Excellency Thomas Chittenden ... [A proclamation] : Since it is the indispensible duty of mankind suitably to notice the hand of Divine Providence ... I have therefore thought fit to appoint Wednesday the twenty fifth day of April next, to be observed as a day of public humiliation, fasting, and prayer throughout this state ... Given under my hand at the Council chamber, at Williston, this the 28th day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred, and ninety two ...
