October 16, 1777 Articles of Surrender by General Burgoyne, following the victory at the Battles of Saratoga by the United States Continental Army. Included in the terms were that Burgoyne's army (approaching 6,000 strong) surrendered their arms; Canadians were allowed to return to their country; and that the army would be supplied for the march to Boston where they would be quartered until there was an exchange and return to England. Also included in this document were other letters and resolutions of thanksgiving by the Congress.
