1789-10, Act amending Act on emitting bills of credit, etc.
October 1789 Act which repealed two paragraphs of the act emitting bills of credit on loans to the amount of 100,000 pounds and allowing debtors to
use real or some personal estate in payment of debts. This amendment repealed the requirement of gold and silver to discharge a debt, given the then
scarcity of same. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Rhode Island Historical Society Library (c.1), and the American
Antiquarian Society Library in Worcester, Massachusetts (c.2, which is incomplete)).
Title:   An act for repealing two paragraphs of the act of the General Assembly, passed at the session held in May, A.D. 1786, emitting bills of credit on loan, to the amount of one hundred thousand pounds ; and for authorising debtors to substitute real estate, and certain articles of personal estate, at an appraised value, in lieu of specie, for the payment and discharge of debts.
