State of Massachusetts-Bay. In the House of Representatives, April 23, 1778. : Whereas, by a resolve of the General Court, of the twentieth day of this instant, April, the several towns in this state are ordered to raise 2000 men, to reinforce the Continental Army ... but no provision is made therein of any encouragement ... Resolved, that each town ... be allowed thirty pounds for each man they shall raise ...
