1773-10-??, Resolution establishing a census (with book dealer's transcription)
1773-10-?? (second Thursday) broadside issued by the Connecticut General Assembly establishing a census of the people in the towns in that state.
The resolution required that the census accounts for sex, race, age, and marital status. Of note, there is a book dealer's transcription insert before
the broadside. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Yale University Library, New Haven, Connecticut).
Title:   At a General Assembly of the governor and Company, of the English colony of Connecticut, in New-England, in America : holden at New-Haven, in said colony, on the second Thursday of October, A.D. 1773. Resolved, by this Assembly, that the select-men, in the respective towns, in this colony, at, or before the general election in May next, shall take, and transmit to his honor the governor, a particular and exact account of all persons in their respective towns, as well negroes and indians, as white persons ; distinguishing the number of those, who are under the age of twenty years, from those who are above that age, their sexes, and whether married or single.
