1775-12-19, Proclamation of day of fasting
December 19, 1775 broadside issued by Governor Jonathan Trumbull of Connecticut, proclaiming January 17th as a day of fasting and prayer, given the
civil war between Great Britain and the colonies. Of note, the governor specifically stated that Britain imposed taxes without the colonies' consent,
all in violation of the British Constitution and the colony's charter. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Connecticut
Historical Society Library (c.1), Yale University Library, New Haven, Connecticut (c.2), and the Massachusetts Historical Society Library (c.3)).
