1777-06-23, Burgoyne's proclamation to the colonists
June 23, 1777 Proclamation of Lt. General John Burgoyne, of the king's forces, to the colonists. His message was part warning of his army's strength
and part suggestion that the colonist seek protection by cooperation. The additional document was a biographical sketch of the owner of this
proclamation, Dr. Silvester Gardiner, who was a loyalist who fled the United States during the war. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of a title originally
held by the Massachusetts Historical Society Library).
