1760-08-20, Incident between H.M.S. Winchester & the Sampson
July 20, 1760 broadside of Acting Gov. Cadwallader Colden pf New York, which proclamation discussed the incident between H.M.S. Winchester and a
merchant ship, the Sampson. The military ship sent a crew of men to "impress" the sailors from Sampson into the navy; they were rebuffed with shots and
refused permission to come aboard. Ultimately several military sailors were killed in the skirmish. This proclamation was for the offenders of the
