New York, 1731-04-22, Law regulating Negroes and slaves in the night time
|

April 22, 1731 New York City law which regulated the presence of Negroes, Mulattoes, or Indian slaves, above the age of fourteen, from the streets on the south-side of the "fresh water." This order also provided for not more than 40 lashes at a publish whipping post for violations of the various rules, at the master's discretion.
