New York, 1731-04-22, Law regulating Negroes and slaves in the night time
April 22, 1731 New York City law which regulated the presence of Negroes, Mulattoes, or Indian slaves, above the age of fourteen, from the streets on
the south-side of the "fresh water." This order also provided for not more than 40 lashes at a publish whipping post for violations of the various
