New York City, 1700-09-24, Ordinance taxing flour
September 24, 1700 Broadside of an ordinance in New York City which taxed flour and biscuits that were imported into the city beginning October 1st.
The ordinance further stated that person receiving these items must report the quantity and pay duty on same; penalties would occur for failure to do
so. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the New York Historical Society Library (c.1), and the American Antiquarian Society
Library in Worcester, Massachusetts (c.2)).
Title:   An ordinance established by the mayor, recorder, alder-men and assistants of the city of New-York conven'd in Common-Council : For the laying the duty and impost of three shillings upon each half barrel of flower, and twelve pence upon each hundred weight of bisket which shall be imported within the city of New-York, after the first of October next.
