March 9, 1786 letter from "a Citizen" to the New York legislature. Included was a review of all the laws and ways that laws and actions demonstrated merchants' loyalty and patriotism; however, many lost their livelihoods and now need the assistance of the legislature to assist them. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the American Antiquarian Society Library in Worcester, Massachusetts (c.1), and the Massachusetts Historical Society Library (c.2)).

To the honorable the Legislature of the state of New-York. : Gentlemen, Among the many objects which claim attention, there is, perhaps, none that calls for it more loudly, than the situation of those who were merchants in this city, prior to the revolution.
