April 15, 1780 Proclamation James Roberson and Major General of British forces, who was appointed over the New York. His orders were to restore the
General Assembly, courts, and other civil government offices and for inhabitants to show allegiance to the King. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
titles originally held by the American Antiquarian Society Library in Worcester, Massachusetts (c.1) and the Massachusetts Historical Society
Library(c.2)).
Title:   A proclamation : the King having been graciously pleased to honor me with the care of a Province ... I proceed with great pleasure to announce his benevolent intentions ... Given under my hand ... the fifteenth day of April, one thousand seven hundred and eighty / James Robertson.
