1760 broadside issued by the New York Council, which announced of the death of King George II and ascension of George III as the new sovereign. Due to fire damage, the precise date of this announcement was missing. In addition, the pages were scanned in reverse order. Whereas it hath pleased Almighty God to call to his mercy our late Sovereign Lord King George the Second, of blessed and glorious memory, by whose decease the imperial crown of Great-Britain ... are solely and rightfully come to the high and mighty Prince George, Prince of Wales ... We therefore ... proclaim ... George the Third ... King of Great Britain ... : Given at the Council chamber, in New-York, the seventeenth day of January, one thousand seven hundred and sixty one.
