1696-09-12, Deserters who left with their arms must return
|

Two copies of September 12, 1696 Broadside that ordered constables, and other officers to capture specifically named deserters and return them to the King's Fort in New York for prosecution. Gov. Benjamin Fletcher's proclamation, however, allowed for these deserter to be pardoned if they voluntarily returned to complete their service within next three weeks.
