A 1684 [i.e., 1674] manuscript transcription of the Duke of York's Laws, (1665). The code was drawn up by Governor Richard Nicolls of New York in
order to create a more unified legal system in the newly created Yorkshire (now Long Island, Staten Island and Westchester County), although it
eventually covered the entire province of New York. Most of the code relied on existing Massachusetts and New Haven laws. (Source of the digitized copy: New
