Romans, Concise history of East and West Florida, 1775
Capt. Bernard Roman's natural history treatise was published in 1775 in New York. The author discussed climate, vegetation, and animals in eastern
and western Florida (then part of England), while also making observations regarding political situations and potential commercial uses. There are
also several illustrations throughout the book. At the end of the treatise, there are two pages listing errata. Thereafter, a note by Roman noted that a
map planned for page 72 was not included in the current volume, but would be published in a second volume. No such volume appeared to have been
published. The Appendix contains marine navigation documents regarding travel to both sides of Florida. (Source of digitized copy: New York Public
Library).
