Cases decided in the High Court of the Transvaal Province; With table of cases and alphabetical index; Reported by J.G. Kotzé, of the Inner Temple,
Barrister-at-Law, Judge of the late High Court: 2nd ed., July 1877 to June 1881, xxiii+260p, Pretoria, pr. by John Keith, 1896. (The Transvaal was
settled in 1844 and recognized as independent by Great Britain in 1852. In July 1877 it was annexed by Great Britain in what was known locally as the
“British Occupation,” which lasted until June 1881. During this First Annexation the area was dubbed “Transvaal Province,” and these reports cover the
work of the High Court maintained by the British. Kotzé, who was appointed its chief judge, went on to serve in the same capacity when the Transvaaal
again became independent as the South African Republic during 1881–1900. LLMC has not located a copy of the 1st edition of these reports.)
