1901). Vol. 1 (263 p.) includes a table of contents with lists of appendices and illustrations; relevant sections of the act of March 3, 1899, letter of
appointment and instructions to commissioners, and organization by committee; and the report in 12 chapters. Vol. 2 (approximately 590 pages,
variously paginated) includes appendices and illustrations, followed by table of contents, listing the contents of volume 2, an index, and related
correspondence. The final 10-page document contains, at end, the Commission's recommendation that the canal's route should be through Panama.
