November - December 2023 Content Update
Dear valued LLMC Members:
Happy New Year to all! Here’s hoping everybody had a wonderful holiday season. This content update provides updated information for November-December 2023. Going forward, our goal is to provide you with regular monthly updates. The final months of 2023 witnessed the continued volume of >500 new titles added to LLMC Digital each month. As we approach 2024, we note that we are within sight of the last 3 or 4 reels of the Early State Records Project, which included more than 1800 microfilm reels. The final reels contain manuscripts dealing largely with the relations between the Native Americans and the colonists in New England and are based on materials housed in libraries in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. These are extremely interesting and weighty materials from the 17th and 18th centuries. As one can determine from the accompanying statistics, materials from Germany, Russia and other Eastern European countries continue to populate those collections. Other global geographic areas are also represented so that all jurisdictions receive attention and new entries with every weekly record load. To highlight just a couple of recent additions, please note that we are adding the titles from the 13-volume series of primary materials on early Swedish law: Corpus iuris Sueo-Gotorum antiqui. LLMC will be analyzing the volumes in this series. The Library of Congress classes this set at KKV129.S94 1827. Another major addition that began to show up is the Law Library of Congress reports collection. You will find these reports grouped collectively under a new entry in the Special Focus Collections: Legal Reports (Publications of the Law Library of Congress). Additionally, each report is also discoverable in the collection which is discussed in the report. For example, the timely report of April 2023 entitled Israel: Proposed Judicial Reforms is available both in this Special Focus Collection as well as a treatise in the Israel Collection. As always, all titles available in LLMC Digital have been cataloged in OCLC. The MARC records are available from OCLC at no charge to OCLC member libraries and institutions. Authority records for all access points are represented in the Name Authority File hosted by OCLC and the Library of Congress. Additionally, these records are re-distributed to the VIAF (Virtual International Authority File). If you have any questions or suggestions regarding content, please feel free to email Joseph Hinger, Director of Global Legal Content Initiatives, at josephh@llmc-digital.org.
