An essay towards a history of the ancient jurisdiction of the Marshalsea of the King's House. To which is subjoined an account of the Court of the
Palace of the King at Westminster, created by letters patent of King Charles II: by Burton Morice, 47p., London, Printed for W. Clarke and Sons, 1812.
(A history of the Marshalsea Court. A court created to administer justice between the sovereign’s domestic servants. It handled cases of trespass,
debts, and contracts. Its criminal jurisdiction disappeared long before its civil jurisdiction was abolished in 1849. The second part describes the Court
of the Palace of the King where cases could be tried by a jury at much at less expense and delay than the superior courts in Westminster Hall. A table
of fees, p.42-43 and a list of legacies to the Prison of Marshalsea and Palace Court, p.44-46 are included at the end of the volume.)
