Stower, 1809. (A summary of the history, political character, governments, and elections of the five ports (Hastings, New Romney, Hythe, Dover, Sandwich) known as the Confederation of Cinque Ports. This series of coastal towns in Kent and Sussex formed the alliance for military and trade purposes. The confederation was expanded to include Rye. There are also chapters on the ancient towns of Winchelsea and Seaford.)
