Wherein are inserted a few Remarks upon Constables and Head-Pence; also many of the Frauds, Abuses, and Impositions of the modern Practice are detected, and presented in their proper light : by Joseph Phipps, vi+31p., London, Printed for J. Millan, 1739. (A discussion of laws governing Court Leets. These courts exercised both judicial and executive powers and received notices of criminal accusations. They also handled instances in which promises to the sovereign were broken. The powers and duties of Court Leets and their process for selecting jurors are described in detail. This is intended to inform the general public of the responsibilities of these courts.)
