February 18, 1867 Correspondence from the Governor to the legislature regarding the controversy on the border line of the "Fairfax stone". The
dispute was between Maryland and Virginia; an appointed commission never resolved he issue and now persons in the disputed land are claimed by various
states. The governor requested that the legislature review documents and other information to resolve the issues. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
