James M. Matthews, Vol. 1-3, Richmond, J.W. Randolph, 1856-60. (The first two volumes of this work, published in 1856 and 1857, covered the civil portion
of the laws. Volume Three, published in 1860, covered the criminal laws. The “new bill of rights” mentioned in the title is the original Virginia
Bill of Rights, as adopted on 12 June 1776, as re-adopted with amendments by the Virginia Constitutional Convention of 1850-51.)
