1775, Convention proceedings & resolutions
|
|
Two copies of the proceedings and resolutions of a Convention held in Richmond from March 20-27, 1775. It was during what was called the Second Virginia Convention that Patrick Henry gave his historical "give me liberty or give me death" speech, in support of three resolutions which he proposed on March 24th. These resolutions, in support of a "well-regulated militia," placed Virginia in a "posture of defence [sic]" against Britain. Of note, the copies are the same, although the first appears to be in better condition. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
