Essay on currency, 1734
|
|
A August 1734 essay on the unsettled state of currency in South Carolina, as well as proposing suggestions how to solve this issue. Of note, North and South Carolina issued large sums of paper money, some backed by future taxes, and others by public offices. However, depreciation against sterling occurred and currency problems developed. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Charleston Library Society).
