Case of the Church of England in Carolina
|
|
An account of the proceedings in London regarding the response by the Lords Proprietors, Governor, and Council of South Carolina to the "untrue suggestions" in the petition of Joseph Boone and others, regarding the case of the Church of England in Carolina. Printed in London in 1706, the response supported the law to establish the building of more Churches of England in Carolina (as well as regulations regarding ministers and other matters) and challenged the statements of Boone,"known to be a dissenter," and a great "opposer" of the establishment of the church in that part of the province. The second document is a summary of same. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by Harvard University Library in Cambridge, Massachusetts).
