Attorney Generals' Reports, 1897-
Annual reports of the Attorney General of Oregon: biennial, 1897/99–; Eugene, state printer, 1899–. (Although the 1857 Oregon Constitution provided
for the election of prosecuting attorneys as the law officers of the State and Counties, the Office of Attorney General of Oregon did not come into
being until 1891, when the legislature created it by statute. Although publication of the reports began with an 1897/99 report, and of the opinions with
the 1901/03 report volume, formal requirements for the publication of periodic A.G. reports and of A.G. opinions respectively were not enacted until
1901 and 1915. Subsequently, the reports and opinions for Oregon were published biennially, although neither reports nor opinions were published for
1914 thru 1920. The fact that in many of the states there were differing patterns of publication for the A.G reports and opinions makes for a confusing
literature. To minimize confusion in its online offerings, LLMC has chosen to group all of the U.S. state attorney generals’ reports and opinions in
two separate series for each state. For the Oregon A.G. Opinions, see the separate Opinions series elsewhere on this site.)
