T. Robertson & Edward Jacobs, Vol. 1-2, NY, Henry M. Tobitt, 1883-89. (Robertson was responsible for the bulk of Vol. 1. Jacobs authored a supplement
to Vol. 1 and all of Vol. 2. The Marine Court of the City of New York dates from 1807, when the justices’ court of the city was authorized by the
state to deal with marine records and was declared to be a “court of record.” While, by the time of these reports, the Marine Court was serving as a
general court of pleas, the work of the court’s early years is particularly important to genealogists due to the power it exercised of naturalizing
aliens.)
