December 16, 1769 Broadside entitled "To the betrayed inhabitants of the City and County of New York" and signed by A Son of Liberty. The document was ascribed to Alexander McDougall, a merchant in New York. The author criticized the Province of New York assembly of 1769 which agreed to approve appropriations for the quartering of British troops under the Quartering Act (after the 1767 and 1768 assemblies refused). Of note, this article was said to have sparked the Battle of Golden Hill, a clash between British soldiers and the Sons of Liberty that occurred on January 19, 1770 in New York City. See LLMC #20792 for related document. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the New York Historical Society Library).
