Description and Holding Information
1910, Compiled Statutes of New Jersey
Compiled statutes of New Jersey; Published under authority of the Legislature by virtue of an act approved April 12, 1910; In five volumes: na, Vol.
1-5, Newark, Soney & Sage, 1911. (This work had a checkered history. As explained in the preface, a statute of 1904 authorized a new edition of the
General Statutes {the last being New Jersey General Statutes, 1895, offered elsewhere on this site}. However, after some work had already been done
under that scheme, it was abandoned by the Legislature in 1908 in favor of a plan to have a revision of the statutes by a statutory commission. After
several years of work the Commission “were compelled to abandon this plan as impracticable and impossible of completion within a reasonable time.”
Thereafter the editorial work was entrusted to the “Editorial Staff, West Publishing Company,” which is credited with having completed the work. Apparently
this revision, although authorized by the Legislature, was not enacted as a whole into positive law.)
