New Jersey Attorney General Opinions, 1949-
Opinions of the Attorney General of New Jersey: irregular, 1949/50–, var. state printers, 1950– (The office of a State Attorney General was
established by the original statehood constitution of 1777. Legislative provision for regular reporting by the A.G. of the activities of his office did not
come until the session of 1889. Opinions were published separately from the annual reports. A.G. opinions covering the years 1821-1872 can be found in a
retrospective work, Opinions of the Attorneys-General from the formation of the state government to February 1872, by H.E. Sickels, vii+1+607p, that
is not yet offered on this site. In the interim between 1872-1949 the only source for opinions is the occasional publication of isolated opinions in
the Journals and Minutes of the Legislature. Starting in 1949 opinions began to be officially published by the Department of Law. For the New Jersey
A.G. Reports, see the separate Reports series elsewhere on this site.)
