May 1847 Resolutions from Connecticut Assembly to the governors of the United States. The first proposed the adoption of Asa Whitney's plan to construct a transcontinental railroad from Lake Michigan to the Pacific Ocean. The second series of resolutions noted the war with Mexico following the statehood of Texas and resolved that any new states not permit slavery.
