1817- Annual directors' reports of the American Asylum at Hartford, Connecticut, for the education of the "Deaf and Dumb." Of note, Rev. Thomas Gallaudet was a co-founder of this first school for the education of the deaf in America. Initially called the "Connecticut Asylum (at Hartford) for the Education and Instruction of Deaf and Dumb Persons," it now operates as the American School for the Deaf.
