House. Comm. to Confer with the Western Rail-road. Report, 1842
|
|
House No. 41 On February 12, 1842, three men were named a Committee to talk to the Western Railroad about the state scrip. On February 22, 1842, the Committee made its report. The railroad did not say positively what scrip would be returned, but they did plan to return whatever was not needed for construction. Of the $4,000,000 loaned, somewhat over $256,000 was still in the hands of the railroad's treasurer. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
