SEE ALSO 53394 House No. 47 A Joint Special Committee considered the situation on Rainsford Island, a quarantine hospital. The state owned the island, the big hospital, and the keeper's house; Boston owned the smaller hospital, the storehouses, and the wharves. The Committee suggested granting it all to Boston. An Act in relation to Rainsford Island in the Harbour [sic] of Boston, 1841. The use of the island and everything on it was granted to Boston, with the proviso that the state could ask for it back.
