Joint Special Comm. on Returns of Votes for Governor and Lt. Governor. Reports, 1840
|
|
Senate No. 3 Reports on the returns of votes for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. On January 11, 1840, a Joint Committee presented a report about the election for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. There were almost as many incorrect filings as there were jurisdictions. After deliberation, it was determined that no candidate received a majority of the votes; George Hull was closest. There was a minority report which thought even fewer votes should have been certified. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
