Senate. Comm. to Procure Copies of English Records. Report, 1831
|
|
Senate No. 23 A Committee had been tasked with how to acquire copies of records of Massachusetts history from repositories in England. On February 15, 1831, it submitted a report. The State Historical Society had been gathering records wherever it could find them and had learned of treasure troves in Britain. It was necessary to file an application to get copies. Then the Committee moved on the papers in the State House. The Secretary of State had nearly finished organizing and scheduling the papers in the State House. Resolved: the Governor will try to get copies relevant to the settlement, government, and history of Massachusetts from England funded by an appropriation of $2,000. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
