SEE ALSO 51843 H.R. No. 54 An Act in addition to an act ... for compensation for piloting vessels through the Vineyard Sound, over Nantucket Shoals, in certain cases, 1827. The Governor was to appoint three Wardens of the Pilots for Vineyard Sound. The Wardens were to issue warrants and license pilots for the Sound. If a ship's master used an unlicensed pilot, he had to pay half the usual fee for a licensed pilot. Each pilot had to give a $100 performance bond and pay the Warden $3 for the license.
