Annual reports of opinions delivered by the Attorney General of Maryland: annual, Vol. 1–, 1916–, state printer, 1917–; With a compiled Index for Vols. 31-51, 1946-66, combined with a Citator for Vol. 1-51, 1916-1966. (The office of Attorney General in Maryland existed as far back as 1715, when it is mentioned in Laws of Maryland, Chap. 48. It was continued in Maryland’s 1777 Constitution, abolished in the 1851 Constitution, and reestablished in the 1864 Constitution. However, only in 1916, when a Department of Law was established by statute {1916, Chap. 560}, was a requirement enacted for an annual report including opinions. Subsequently, the reports and opinions for Maryland were published annually in one bound volume. However, while Maryland maintained this admirable consistency, in many of the other states the original paper versions of the attorney generals’ reports and opinions were sometimes published together, sometimes separately, and in some years only reports or only opinions were published; making for a confusing literature. To minimize this confusion in its online offerings, LLMC has chosen to group all of the U.S. state attorney generals’ reports and opinions in two separate series for each state. For the Maryland A.G. Reports, see the separate Reports series elsewhere on this site.)
