Forty-fifth Legislature. House. No. 77. An Act in relation to the rule of damages in action of tort, 1866. No more than single damages could be recovered for injury to personal property owned by people who had incited opposition to the government during its attempt to subdue the rebellion. There was an amendment to section nine, chapter one hundred twenty-seven that added, after "trespass" in the last line ... the amount of the injury ... no more than three times the amount...
