Description and Holding Information
House. Act to authorize the Bangor, Oldtown and Milford Railroad Company extension, 1860
Thirty-ninth Legislature. House. No. 33. An Act to authorize the Bangor, Oldtown, and Milford Railroad to extend a branch of their road to Katahdin
Iron Works in Piscataquis County, 1860. The text listed the towns the extension could serve. The route had to be filed by July 1, 1861 and track
completed by 1866. An amendment followed that added three sections to the bill. The railroad was authorized to go from Milford to Mattawamkeag. Bangor
planned to support the railroad financially, so there were directions about how the money was to doled out; the railroad had to offer all its assets
as security. If the company did not follow the rules and timetable, it could never ask the Legislature for anything ever again. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
