Forty-third Legislature. House. No. 27. An Act enforcing the provisions of law and treaties relating to the Penobscot Tribe of Indians, 1864. The
Governor was to appoint a man to serve as an instructor and superintendent of agriculture for the Penobscot--to help them decide on crops, to get the
plowing done, distribute tools, keep records of the crops, and buy their products. The tribal agent was to conduct an annual census of the tribal
members and share it with state government. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library and the Library of
