House. Comm. on Education. Report on map of the Commonwealth, 1842
House No. 13 On January 13, 1842, the Committee on Education reported on the map of the Commonwealth. The contract for engraving had been let,
with delivery of the sheets in September. The Committee wanted a public officer to supervise the distribution and sale of the map. Resolves
concerning the printing and publication of the map of the Commonwealth, 1842. Resolved: the Secretary of the Commonwealth would deliver finished copies of
the map to a list of government officers, to each state and territory and each town or city in Massachusetts, plus 50 copies for the Governor to
distribute as he saw fit. Resolved, the Secretary was to contract for printing the public's copies, spending no more than $4.00 each. Resolved, from these,
one copy would go to each Council member and each Legislator. Resolved, the Governor could draw warrants for costs up to $2,500. Resolved, the
Secretary could sell to booksellers in batches of no less than 100 copies. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of
