SEE ALSO 53681 Senate No. 69 On February 25, 1842, a Joint Special Committee presented: Resolves concerning the north-eastern boundary of the
United States, 1842. Resolved, the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick was clearly defined in the 1783 treaty. Resolved, the Commonwealth, as
joint proprietors with Maine, had an interest in all negotiations about the boundary and her rights could not be abridged without her consent.
Resolved, the Governor was authorized to produce an honorable adjustment as an emergency might demand. Resolved, no compromise of territory west of the
1783 line could be made without the assent of Maine and Massachusetts. Resolved, the Governor will send this document to the President of the United
