Senate No. 58 On February 10, 1842, the Committee on Fisheries, in response to petitions, reported a bill: An Act to protect the shad fishery in
Monomoy Bay, 1842. No non-resident of the state could take shad away from a designated area of the Bay to sell. No one at all could throw fish offal
in that defined area or anywhere below the low tide line. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
Title:   The Committee on the Fisheries, to whom were refer­red sundry petitions concerning a shad fishery in this commonwealth, have considered the same, and report the accompanying bill.
