Senate. Comm. on Railways and Canals. Act to incorporate the Proprietors of the Milton Canal, 1842
|
|
Senate No. 49 On February 16, 1842, the Committee on Railways and Canals reported a bill: An Act to incorporate the proprietors of the Milton Canal, 1842. Four men were incorporated as above, subject to Chapter 44 of the Revised Statutes. The Corporation was to build a 35 foot wide canal on the route defined, plus a tow path, with leave to deepen a creek. There were fines for vandalism of the works. Two hundred shares at $50 each were authorized, with the usual rules for assessments and sales. The Corporation would furnish wharfage at the usual local rates. If the canal was not finished in two years, the act was void. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
