Senate No. 49 On February 16, 1842, the Committee on Railways and Canals reported a bill: An Act to incorporate the proprietors of the Milton
Canal, 1842. Four men were incorporated as above, subject to Chapter 44 of the Revised Statutes. The Corporation was to build a 35 foot wide canal on
the route defined, plus a tow path, with leave to deepen a creek. There were fines for vandalism of the works. Two hundred shares at $50 each were
authorized, with the usual rules for assessments and sales. The Corporation would furnish wharfage at the usual local rates. If the canal was not
