Senate No. 46 On February 14, 1842, the Committee on Matters in Probate and Chancery reported a bill: An Act concerning dower, 1842. When a
woman was entitled to dower in lands owned by her husband in common with others, the judge was authorized to arrange the partition of the husband's

Ordered, that the Committee on Matters of Probate and Chancery inquire into the expediency of amending the law in regard to assigning to widows their dower in estates held by their husbands in common with other persons.
